"We have now spent two days in studio 301 outside of Stockholm, in deep freeze weather by the way, and have already laid down basic tracks for eight of the songs for the upcoming album HAMMER OF THE NORTH. The big room we use for the drums have unique and fantastic acoustics, we are talking some of the most punishing natural drum sounds since Creatures of the night or Mob rules.
It'll be extremely exciting to present some real stuff in this world of triggered and doctored drums and what else. We are confident that the real deal will taste better!

Swedish metal-riff-lords GRAND MAGUS sign a worldwide deal with Roadrunner Records

Roadrunner Records is very excited to announce the signing of this outstanding metal band from Stockholm/Sweden!
GRAND MAGUS is a 3-piece band featuring: „JB“ Christofferson – Guitars & Lead-Vocals, Fox Skinner – Bass & Backing-Vocals, Sebastian "SEB" Sippola – Drums
During their 10-year history, GRAND MAGUS have released 2 demos, 1 split-EP and 4 full-length albums, and have received overwhelmingly positive reviews throughout. Their last opus, “Iron Will” was voted “Album of The Month” in the German Metal Hammer & Rock Hard magazines. Drawing hefty influences from the hand-on-heart grandeur of the NWOBHM and the inspirational mythology of their forbears, GRAND MAGUS are steeped in pre-Christian tales of triumph, vengeance, betrayal, wisdom and death. But GRAND MAGUS also stand for energetic live performances as seen at this year’s European festivals such as Sweden Rock (SE), Hellfest (FR), Wacken (D), Summerbreeze (D) or on tour in Europe with bands like At The Gates, Cathedral, Candlemass, Tyrant, SerpentCult or Electric Wizard.
Roadrunner Records is proud to be releasing their upcoming album, “HAMMER OF THE NORTH” in spring/early summer of 2010 (tba). On this release, GRAND MAGUS have perfected their own style of full-on metal assault with fantastic heavy riffing and stomping songs, strong hook-lines, epic vocals/lyrics and rousing solo guitars. “HAMMER OF THE NORTH” is not only the title of a new album in the band’s catalogue, it’s going to be a strong statement from GRAND MAGUS: “Hammer Of The North” - this is pure Heavy Metal!

So what have we been up to? In one word: gigs. This summer has been a busy one, we’ve managed to play the following festivals: Sweden Rock (SWE), Rock Hard (GER), Hammerfest (UK), Wacken Open Air (GER), Hellfest (FR), Inferno (NOR), Summer Breeze (GER), Sauzipf Rocks (AUT) and done a bunch of other gigs. Most recently with Candlemass in Athens which was a blast. Thanks to all you heavy metal people in Europe who came and banged your heads with us!
The website has been down for quite a while, apologies for this, but we simply have put the gigs as our main priority. We shall improve our web presence tenfold in the next few weeks/months. This also involves our “fan” myspace,
www.myspace.com/grandmagusrocks, which will become the only official Grand Magus myspace with information from us, the band, directly. Hopefully this will be happening in the next couple of weeks as well. Total respect and mighty thanks to Leslie in Lousiana for starting up the myspace and maintaining it for a long time. We owe you one!
Ever since the release of IRON WILL, we have been on what seems like and endless roller coaster ride, filled with great gigs, awesome response from magazines and most importantly from you, our listeners. We never knew there were so many of you out there. Especially gratifying is the fact that you all seem to fucking understand what we want to put across, which makes it worth so much more. It has been a fantastic year and a half! Our goal now is to top this for 2010. We aim to make an even better album and gigs. We can’t wait to get the metal out there to you.
At the moment we are writing new songs and generally spending a lot of time locked in our rehearsal space. The atmosphere when we get together is electric and we have already come up with some killer stuff. We feel strong and confident.
All business matters will be handled by our management from now.
